Installing Big Sur onto an iMac getting to the final point and it seems to be stuck...... showing “less than a minute remaining” this has been showing for over 45 minutes now !!

How much free space do you have on your boot drive. Big Sur requires a minimum of 35.5 GB and more, over 50 GB, for older systems.

If it has been 45 minutes, go ahead and turn off the iMac by pressing and holding the power button. Give it a moment, then turn it back on. See if it then finishes up.

Shut down the computer then hold down the power button on startup for about 15 seconds and release.
