Hotspot

My iPhone which is running iOS 14.3 won’t connect to my MacBook Pro 13in from 2017 which is running macOS Big Sur. It keeps saying that my iPhone hotspot is not able to be joined. I connect the phone to my laptop via Bluetooth and it connects but doesn’t give me internet access. My coworker had an android and their hotspot worked perfectly. How do I get my iPhone hotspot to work with my Mac?
