Hello,

By "silent mode" you are referring to the Ring/Silent button, correct? If so:

1) If you have a case on the phone, remove it and test again

2) Try flipping the button back and forth. Is it loose?

3) I'm assuming that a restart on the phone has no effect, correct?

Good luck.

My iPhone XS and my husband’s iPhone 6s have the opposite problem since the last iOS update: silent mode is turned on randomly and automatically without turning the switch and without giving notice (it can be turned of by switching down and up again). I’ve missed important calls and text because of it.

The mute switch operates via the iOS software.

This will usually fix it according to other threads:-

Settings, General, Reset, Reset all settings.

It will take you a while to get it set up as it was but it should fix this.

Thanks @LD150

I think this is a very draconic measure for an issue caused by an update. So I wait for the next update (and hope for the problem to be fixed, as a lot of people experience the same problem) before deciding to do this.

I am not talking about backup and restore, just putting settings back to default.

With old problems we rely on experience, but with new problems we rely on other users reporting success on other threads with the same problem.
