How do you make DVDs from iMovie projects?
If you want a DVD with menus, themes, and scenes, and/or one that is more than 4.5GB in size, export the movie to your desktop and drag it into a DVD authoring program like Toast or like DVD Creator by Peng Guiping available for $14.95 at the app store. You will need some good quality standard DVD-r discs, such as the Verbatim brand. You also will need an internal or external DVD burner to burn the DVD.
If you just want to store data on the DVD, such as a movie file, you can burn a data DVD with the burn program on your Mac. For instructions, go to the Finder Help menu and type in Burn CD's or DVD's. Data DVDs are limited in size to the capacity of the DVD disc, as they are not compressed like an authored DVD. Data DVD's do not have menus. Also, traditionally data DVDs would only play on a computer, not a DVD player. Howerver, I understand that the newer DVD players have an option allowing the playing of a data DVD.
