Size of 'save as' window in Big Sur

If I want to save a file within any software, Big Sur 11.1 always shows me a too small 'Finder' window which I need to make larger and widen the columns to see where I am saving to. Next time I open the program again, the 'save as' window is that small again. Why doesn't it remember the size I used the previous time, or make this window standard bigger? Is there a setting for that?

There's no setting. It's a known issue with Big Sur. Hopefully addressed by Apple in an upcoming version.
