Keyboard not working to log in to MacBook

I cannot log into MacBook, all of a sudden keyboard does nothing, except any key will wake up to log in page.

It was working fine, then it wasn’t; so I closed the lid for a while, now cannot log on

On/off Not working to turn off, only to wake up, like any other key.
