Creating a System Photo Library on Mac

I followed the Apple steps for accomplishing this goal but was stopped at #6. The Use as System Photo Library is greyed out so it cannot be selected :(

Unable to change system photo library I've recently moved to a late 2021 16" MacBook Pro (running Mac OS 12.5) and have moved my Photos library from an external hard drive to the computer's drive. But I can't seem to make the new library my system photo library – the option in preferences is greyed out, as below. Would be very grateful for any suggestions.

Photo library cannot be found When I open Photos it gives the message Photos cannot find the System Photo Library named “Photos Library” It gives me an option to pick another one and points to the one that exists under the folder Pictures. However, if I select it the thing immediately goes back to the above. This happens on my iMac and my MacBook Air. The library is obviously there. On the iPhone and iPad I can look at pictures without a problem. I did delete that library on an old iMac that I was giving away. I rarely look at photos on my OS machines.

MacBook Air: Photos Can't Find System Photo Library After updating my MacBook Air, I noticed that the Photos App can't find system photo library. The following message always appears: Photos cannot find the System Photo Library named “Photos Library.photoslibrary” Does anyone know what the issue is and how to fix it? Note that I can still see all photos (2009 to date) on my iPhone. Thank you, Mario

That means the currently open library is the system library.

If you have only one library then it is automatically the system library
