how can i copy music from my ipad to a classic ipod

You can’t do it directly. You would have to transfer the music to iTunes or download it in iTunes and then sync the iPod classic to get that music onto the device.

I know that they are ancient devices now, so if it is too old to sync, there is no way to transfer the iPad music to the iPod.
