Ringing on silent mode/not

My new iPhone 12 rings while on silent mode and doesn’t ring when not on silent mode. It also rings low when it shouldn’t. I’ve restarted and I know that the button in the upper left hand corner should show orange. I’ve had an iPhone for over 7 years so I know how to operate it correctly. What are your suggestions?
