I have a pair of AirPods which do NOT hold a charge. I’ve used them 5 times since owning them and am so frustrated that every time I pick them up, they are dead. Do I have to keep them permanently charging if I don’t use them for more than 24 hours?
I have another pair of wireless headphones I bought for $40 and I can pick them up after 3 weeks and they are still charged. In my mind, I completely wasted $200 on the AirPods.

They should not be doing that.
Note: they should be stored in the case with the cover closed when not in use (that turns them off so that they are not drawing power). See this for more detail:

Assuming that they were fully seated into the case, it might be time for service:

They are always stored in the case with the cover closed, but for example, I had them fully charged last night, I didn’t use them or take them out of the case, and then this morning I tried to use them at 7am and they were dead. My phone indicated that the case was charged, but the headphones were at 0%.
