copy photo library from iMac 2011 to Mac mini 2020 m1

I tried copying my photos library.photoslibrary file from my iMac 2011 to Mac mini 2020 M1 and will not let me, "cannot open migrated library.how do I move this iMac library to my Mac mini?

Transfer Photos library from Catalina to Sonoma Hi, I'm using an old intel iMac and will soon be receiving a new silicone Mac... when it comes to transferring my Photos library (stored on internal drive, not iCloud or anything).. can I just drag the Photos library onto an external drive then drag that onto the new Mac.. is it as simple as that? I want to start my new Mac fresh, not do full transfer of everything, just the Photos library. Thanks!

Apple tells you what to do here in Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac. You need to move Photos Library file, as instructed.
