I deleted videos in photos but they appear to remain in i movie. How do I delete them from i movie to free up disk space?

Hi - Go into iMovie
Go to iMovie library. Click on each item, and delete stuff from the media tab.
Ok I am in I- movie and have gone to the media tab and selected a video but cannot figure out how to delete. I have tried the delete button on the keyboard and dragging to trash and neither work.
