IOS 14 update stuck on “Preparing Update”

I recently purchased an IPhone 8+ and while setting it up, every time I try to install the required software update it gets stuck on the “preparing update” screen. Other fixes I have found are for Iphones that have already been set up, and I haven’t been able to find the fix for this problem on a brand new iPhone. Please help!
