How do I Update from Yosemite to a compatible OS

How do I update from Yosemite to a higher Mac OS, knowing my IMac (late2013) can't update to Big Sur or the latest OS?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download El Capitan, High Sierra, Mojave, or Catalina.
