Why can't i downgrade to a former OS?

Why is it so hard to get an installer for Catalina now that Big Sur is out?

What if i need to downgrade to Mojave due to compatibility issues?

Thanks, I've been doing searches on and off for days with no luck.

Google search doesn't get it and the link I found on the apple site still reverted back to Big Sur, or every version from 10.15.1 and up but you have to have the original.

App Store search of the word "Catalina" doesn't get the correct results either.

It's easy when you know how, so I think you for making it easy.

Sometimes it is easier when you know the words to search.

If you search the Apple Support site for "previous macOS version" it is the second hit. Something about Fonts shows up first. So, even knowing what works isn't the best choice.

And, when you are looking for support articles, you have to search support.apple.com, not directly on www.apple.com.

Web searches tend to bring up too much extraneous stuff.
