I need to update my mac's OS. I'm running Sierra 10.12 and I need and the mac site says that I can't run Big Sur. Help

Or what OS can I update too.

I've tried installing High Sierra 10.13.6, 10.14.6 and CAtalina 10.15.4 and my screen tells me that I need a version like 10.13 or 10.14. Help
