How to delete upgrade files

Hello,

I am currently running macOS Catalina.

Suddenly I got the notification that there is a new update to macOS Big Sur.

I don't want to update but it seems that the update files have been already downloaded to my computer because it says that I am running out of space.

I already ticked off the option in Software Updates so it will no longer download the updates automatically.

Do you know where can I find the files with the update and delete them?

Thank you

Mac mini, macOS 10.15

No Installer in the Applications folder. Please note that I didn't
upgrade to the new Big Sur. Files are already downloaded. How can I
remove them? about 11 GB.

If the full installer downloaded to your Mac then it would be sitting in your Applications folder.

If it did not download the full installer then will not be in your Application folder, nor anywhere else—then your assumption would be a red-herring.

SSD like to have 20-25% free storage to run efficiently

HDD like to have 10-15% free storage to operate efficiently and trouble free.

Big Sur states that you will need 35.5 GB of free storage when upgrading from High Sierra or newer, and 44.5 GB when upgrading from an older versions. Big Sur's full installer is ~12.8 GB in size in it's 'compressed' form.

Try something like OmniDiskSweeper for a GUI to get a good look at itemized file size and location:
