Logic Pro on two Macs (back and forth?)

Hi all. I'm new to Logic Pro and wondering if there is a (simple) way to work on a project on two Macs (desktop iMac and MacBook Pro). I don't imagine iCloud is a solution but I wonder is there a way to achieve something similar? I'd like to be able to take even a stripped down version of a project with me on the MacBook now and then and, afterwards, sync any changes there back to the desktop version of the project.

Thanks in anticipation of your advice. Stay safe all!

I stopped trying to "sync" two computers because I was spending way too much time keeping the computers up to date instead of doing music. I eventually have chosen my Macbook Pro to be the important computer. I can take my Macbook into the studio and connect sound card and screen. The studio computer is only intended for dedicated work or installations.

Having this said, it's quite straight forward to work on two computers as long you only work with Logic stock plugins and you are not dependent on a special ability of one of your computers. You can easily open and save a session on another computer. And I always have a copy of my zipped key-commands and start template in the cloud. Keep in mind: better store only zipped projects in the cloud and never work with Logic in the cloud. Always copy your projects to a physical hard drive and work from there.

Absolutely. If all you want to sync are your Logic projects, then it should be fairly simple.

What you need is a reliable syncing app. I'm not affiliated with them by any means, but I really can't praise ChronoSync by https://econtechnologies.com enough. Happy daily user since 2003, also periodically including full home folder sync between my two MacBooks. It can sync or backup literally anything you throw at it, with even the most complex rules – provided you know what you want and you know what you're doing.

But it has a "simple" mode as well, and that should suffice for syncing a few folders. Likely even their ChronoSync Express will already do what you want.

The first thing to do is to make sure that both of your Logic installations are more or less identical, with the same sound library content, plugins, preferences, settings, custom keyboard shortcuts etc. That will make everything easier. Some of these folders are scattered in various locations on the drive, not all are obvious to find. That initial step can be partially synced manually by drag and drop some of those folders or their content from one drive to the other. (Been there, done that many, many times…)

Then you can set up ChronoSync to sync your ~/Music/Logic folder to sync your projects. It can run either periodically, even attempting to auto-mount the other Mac. Or it can run automatically each time you mount the other Mac's volume. Or it can run manually any time you tell it to run.
