What are you trying to update to, is it version 11.1, or are you trying to upgrade your mac from High Sierra to Big Sur.
When downloading updates from the Apple Servers it is best to have
your mac connected to your router via cable rather than WiFi.
Do not use the mac while it is downloading and do not use any other
devices that share the same internet connection.

its download but not updating
if I download via cable can I update ?
A cabled connection is a stronger link to the Apple Servers
so is more likely to download and install correctly.
