Epson - Cannot Scan

I have an Epson Perfection V39 scanner connected via USB and an Epson WF-3730 all-in-one connected via ethernet. Big Sur drivers installed for both. I am unable to scan with Preview or Image Capture. Both apps can see the scanners but cannot scan. I get the following error - Failed to Open a Connection to the Device (-21345).

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The WF-3730 is supported by Apple's built-in AirPrint without an Canon software required. In System Preferences : Printers & Scanners, right-click on the WF-3730 and choose Reset printing system… . This will remove and allow you to re-add the device, but this time, choose AirPrint instead of the Canon drivers. Once you have re-added it, print something. Other functionality may appear as selectables on the Printers panel.

For the V39 scanner, if you downloaded the Oct 2020 Drivers and Utilities package, it was not tested against a released Big Sur product, and probably will not work. Epson did provide a Nov 2020 ICA v5.8.8 driver for Apple's Image Capture that likely will work with Big Sur. I would be hesitant to recommend any Epson software for this scanner that was released in Oct 2020 or earlier.
