My 2015 Macbook won't allow me to upgrade to the Big Sur due to this message: "There is not enough free space on the Macintosh HD to upgrade the OS."

My 2015 Macbook won't allow me to upgrade to the Big Sur due to this message: "There is not enough free space on the Macintosh HD to upgrade the OS." Where is the best place to purchase/install more space? It states I need additional 4.98 GB to upgrade. Many thanks for your suggestions and ideas.
