Transfer VHS tapes to iMac 11.1

What is the best device to buy to convert my old VHS family tapes directly to my iMac running iOS 11.1?

How many hours of VHS do you have?

Converting them with a computer has alway been a real pain in the a**.

I used to use a video capture adapter and roxio toast back in the early 2000's, but it was a real time consuming process and tied up the Mac for hours and hours.

Then I got a little smarter, and started using a VHS player and a DVD Recorder. I would record the VHS tapes on to DVDs and then import them into the old iMovie. To this day and several Mac's later, I still have all of those movies on my Mac.

Then I finial got real smart and got rid of that old VHS cam corder. I sold it for $25 sometime a round 2010.

Another option, is to call your local camera shop or send then out to a Service like legacybox.com and have them digitized on to DVD's or a FlashDrive.

Thank you to both Old Toad and den.thed for their suggestions. It sounds easier to transfer directly to the computer with VidBox, but maybe I don't want to tie up my computer for hours. I have an old VHS to DVD player/recorder that I can try again. I have many, many VHS tapes of family events, H.S. plays, graduations, etc. Good project for January!
