Loss in Quality When Importing Photos

How do I stop the macOS from lowering the quality of photos being imported from an SD card? I upload 42.2MP RAW images into the photo app from a shoot I did and then when I go to import them into Capture One to be edited, there is a significant drop in quality and resolution. It goes from 42MP to 18MP and the photos quality becomes low. Same thing, when I sent the photos to iPad, it has a drop in quality also. What could I do to fix this issue?

How are you importing from the Photos library into Capture One? I believe you need to export the original file out of the library to a folder on your hard drive and from there import into Capture One for processing. That will give you the same file that was on the SD card.
