Uninstall Adobe Flash Player

I frequently receive messages on my desktop: Adobe Flash Player. It states that I must un-install the program because it will not be supported past January 2021.. However it further instruct me to download their "un-installer" to accomplish this. When I search for Adobe Acrobat in my Applications Folder I do not see it.

I hesitate to install something that I receive unsolicited.

Is this legitimate?

Why does it matter if I do not try to use the Adobe Acrobat Program?

Why doesn't it appear in my Applications Folder?
