Apple One Family Subscription question....

I currently have an individual Apple One plan but would like to upgrade to a family plan so as to add my wife. Here is my question - will we still maintain our individual iTunes and iCloud accounts or will these services combine into one single account automatically? I've never used Family Sharing so I have no idea how this works.
