So simply put I have my messages marked on my phone to be sent to my icloud back up along with my photos. Now will the photos that are sent via a message thread will they appear on my new phone after the back up? I am curious to see what will come over to my new phone. I'm hoping everything.

You will see all of your messages on your new device providing you were using the following feature - Store messages in iCloud - Apple Support and enable it on the new device.
