Silenced calls

All of my incoming calls, unless they’re from recognized contacts, are silenced, whether I have the ringer on or not. I’m missing phone calls because I don’t hear the phone ring when people call. I have DND enabled but allow calls from everyone. My phone is not silenced. My phone is not locked in an attempt to fix this, but I’d much rather it be locked. Any ideas?

Silenced Calls I am using an iPhone 7 and my wife is using an iPhone XR. In my phone, ring is not being received when the calls are from unsaved numbers; then a notification appears that there was a silent call from the number appearing there. No such issue is there in my wife’s iPhone XR. I find that similar problem is faced by many. The resin for some calls going silent is seen mentioned as “turning on DND”. Actually in my phone DND is switched off. Yet there is an option to select when the calls have to be silenced, either ‘Always’ or ‘When the phone is locked’. This option should not have been there when DND is not ‘ON’. I think there is a bug. To my belief this issue started appearing only recently, after installation of iOS 14.3 or 14.4. Could anyone suggest a solution?

Why are all my calls being silenced? What if I don’t want my calls silenced at all! I am missing plenty of calls because calls get silenced when the iPhone is locked. I see no options for letting calls get through regardless of whether phone is locked. Am I the only one having this problem?

Go to Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers and turn that option off. More information in Detect and block spam phone calls - Apple Support
