Is malwarebytes diagnostic tool safe to run?

I am experiencing issues using Malwarebytes. It is consuming up to 95% CPU. Malwarebytes wants me to download a tool that will gather information about my system - it requires that I provide my MacBook Pro username and password. Any advice/opinion on whether or not this is safe to do?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0

I do not hear often issues like yours ...

It is a trusted utility if you are having an issue and suspect you have installed adware/malware.

There are manual ways of rooting out the problem, it does not have to be third party, but can make it easier.

Typically third party Anti-Virus does nothing but add issues and compete directly with Apples own built in Security:
