I bought extra storage and my phone states full why?

I bought extra storage and my iphone still states that I'm out of storage I'm only using 15 of 50 GB

iPhone SE, iOS 13

One cannot purchase extra iCloud storage in the hope of augmenting their device's storage as the latter cannot be altered. If your device's storage needs culling, see the following --

iCloud storage does NOT increase the available internal storage on the device.
