I have a late 2015 27" iMac. I want to connect it to an external monitor. What is the best way to do this (to ensure the best resolution)? I have a 5k monitor with hookups for Mini DisplayPort, DisplayPort, HDMI, and dual-link DVI-D.
Appreciate any help. I cannot seem to find a straight answer to this anywhere.

It would be a Thunderbolt to what connection the external display has adapter. For example, Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. Then you would set it up using the instructions in Use external monitors with your Mac

If the monitor came with a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable or Mini DisplayPort to Display Port cable, then you can use either of those.

Yes, MiniDisplay Port to whichever adapter would work fine. If the display has a MDP then no adapter is necessary.
Would a minidislay port cable work since video out is compatible with the Thunderbolt 2? Would mindisplayport to mini displayport or mini display port to hdmi be better quality?
