apple care coverages

if i have apple care on my iphone 11 and want a better replacement, do i have to get it before it gets to a certain number?

AppleCare is a warranty for your current device.

It does not cover upgrading to newer devices.

If you get a replacement device under AppleCare as part of the warranty, you receive the same exact model of device that you own.
