I have an older 2009 Mac Book with a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo but I installed a 500 G SS disk and 4G memory. I run High Sierra. Can I download and run Catalina?

Thank you to Halliday but if speed and storage was an issue I installed a 500 G SS disk and 4G memory. Could that solve the problem or is it an inherent issue with the processor?
You won't be able to run Catalina. It requires Metal graphics support which you don't have and can't add.
I have an older boosted MacBook (2009) running High Sierra, can still I download and run Catalina?
