Icloud backup

If i delete my icloud backup does it mean all my data will be deleted as well or just the backup! Can i backup new data from current phone again?

iCloud backup Hi! My phone is showing that I’m almost out of iCloud storage because I have this phone on it but also my iPhone 8 Plus on it. I don’t want to delete the 8 plus backup without knowing that nothing will be deleted or wiped from this phone. Can you please let me know if I am okay to delete that backup? Just backup data.
