iphone 6s merge contacts with icloud

Morning. I am trying to merge my iphone 6s contacts with icloud, but I am not asked if I want to merge. Contacts was already turned on. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If already turned on, then it should've already merged. Have you checked the Contacts app and scroll all the way down to the bottom where it shows the total?

The contact app shows that I have hundreds of contacts. Any other suggestions?
