Epson Printer fails to set-up after upgrading to Big Sur. Worked fine with High Sierra.

Does anyone please know how to get my Epson XP-235 Printer working. I have upgraded to Big Sur. I went to the EPSON website and down loaded what is supposedly a matching up-grade package for Big Sur, but on installing I got the same rejection as without the new package. The rejection statement was the same as mentioned by another complainant for another type of printer.

Hello, alteyunge.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

From reading your post, you're having issues getting your Epson printer to set up on macOS Big Sur. We'd be glad to help out. Try some of the steps listed in this article: Solve printing problems on Mac

You can also see if you can set up the printer in either safe mode or a new user account:

How to use safe mode on your Mac

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

If that still doesn't help, contact the manufacturer of the printer.

Best regards.

I am sorry you are having printer problems. If you will bear with me, I will offer some things to consider. Whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then a new OS compliant driver must be installed. Experience has shown that many printer manufacturers are very slow to provide updated drivers. Drivers for some older printers are never provided. (Apparently, they prefer to sell new printers.) What we can do is to thoroughly check the printer web site for a compliant driver that works. If one is not available, then we should ask when one will be released. If that doesn't work, if the Printer has the Air Print feature, that can be used and no driver will be needed. If not, then you can check the web site below where volunteers write drivers for older printers which are no longer supported, but which work with newer operating systems. It is worth checking out.
