Two external displays - new Macbook Pro (M1 chip)

Hi,

it seems you can't connect to external displays to your Macbook Pro with the M1 card.

This can't be real?

Have a Macbook Pro 2020 (old version with touchbar) that it works just fine with, but with same setup (two external USB-C monitors) I can't get it to work.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Under "About this Mac" i can find following info:

Video Support

Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at millions of colors and:

  • One external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz

Thunderbolt 3 digital video output

  • Native DisplayPort output over USB‑C
  • VGA, HDMI, DVI, and Thunderbolt 2 output supported using adapters (sold separately)

So it's impossible to use two external? Feels like Apple just made a move back to stone age?

You've answered you own question with the spec that you highlighted. These first M1 notebooks don't support more than 1 external display. You'll have to wait for a higher end MacBook Pro for dual monitor support. The M1 Mac mini can support a second monitor on the HDMI port because it doesn't have a built-in display.
