No it will not be available!

Think of it like this: the Live Photos is a subset of Recents... so if you delete from Recents it will also be deleted from Live Photos.. and conversely if you delete from Live Photos, it will also be deleted from Recents.

Just to clarify further: there is only one copy of the photo which appears in both those albums ... so deleting the one and only copy of the photo from either album, will cause it to be deleted ... and therefore it will not appear in the other album too. Hope this makes sense!

Just an explanation in addition to Siabh's excellent advice: Why do you want to remove photos from Recents? Are you trying to organise photos or do you want to save storage? if you want to organise your photos, create your own albums. You can remove photos from your own albums without deleting them everywhere.

  • The albums you create yourself and the predefined albums created by Photos are just using the one copy of a photo in your library, so they are not holding additional copies of the photos. Even if you are seeing the same photo in several albums, it will not need additional storage. Removing photos from albums will not save storage, only deleting the photo from the library.

There is a difference between the predefined albums created automatically by Photos and albums you create yourself.

  • All automatically created albums (recents, Live Photos, Panoramic etc.) are a kind of smart albums. They are populated automatically, based on the rules for this album. All photos in your library are tested, if the match the rules for this album. You can only remove a photo from automatically created albums by modifying the photo, so it will no longer match the rules, if possible, or by deleting the photo.
  • Albums you create yourself are managed by yourself. You can remove photos from your own albums, without deleting it from the library, and add the same photo to many albums without needing extra storage.
  • Shared albums are different: When you share a photo to a shared album, a copy is created. The photo will remain in the shared album, even if you delete the original in Photos. Shared albums need extra storage and are not updated, when you modify the original photo.
