Need USB-C/Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter

I have been advised to obtain a USB-C/Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter but can't find one anywhere!

My goal is to put an iMac 27", Mid 2010. (iMac 11,3) with a Firewire 800 port into Target Disk mode and connect it to my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) (MacBookPro13,3)

I found this:

Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008RXYOKY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

.. but it's the wrong version of Thunderbolt so won't plug into the MacBook Pro.

(MacBook Pro is Thunderbolt 3.)

Can anyone guide me to the cable I need?

Thank you.

You need two Adapters to do that.

a USB-C to Thunderbolt 2 adapter.

and a Thunderbolt 2 the FireWire 800 adapter.

Hello,

Please note that even if a combination of two adapters (Thunderbolt 3 to 2 to FireWire) may be OK for the connection of an external FireWire device, it does not guarantee that FireWire target disk mode will work. So, you may want to check whether someone actually has successfully used the exact adapters in question for this. Otherwise, consider this to be experimental.

The following adapter could perhaps be of interest, if you choose to use Ethernet instead:

The Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple (UK)

If somewhat lower speeds can be accepted, you should be able to carry out transfers via Wi-Fi as well.

I had already ordered both adapters and am happy to report that did work for Target Disk mode :-)
