Macbook Air will not charge iPhone

I bought my laptop two Christmases ago and it is a 2015 model. I bought it brand new. I have tried plugging in multiple phones with multiple cables and no the cables are not at fault. My computer has not been able to charge any phone with any cable and it is quite annoying. If anyone knows whats wrong please help and thank you so much :)

  1. Reset SMC by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset SMC. If that does not solve things then-
  2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset NVRAM/PRAM. If that does not solve things then-
  3. Enter ➔ Safe Mode and see if the screen issue still exists in Safe mode. Log out of Safe Mode and then reboot computer. If that does not solve things then-
  4. Finally if none of the above works then you can enter ➔ macOS Recovery Mode and reinstall the macOS and see if that solves it.

There is a prompt asking to download extra software to interact with the device after an OSX (MacBook) update.

this is from iTunes while the device is plugged in after the update and seconds the MacBook recognizes the device..

does this ring a bell or do you remember seeing this?

if not

i would first check to see that your device is in your iCloud settings.
