I have a clip where my subject is off-center. I would like to crop the clip and center the subject in the final video, but I don't have any guides or rulers in the preview pane. The simple transform drag centers on the clip center, so that's not helpful. Is there a guide/rule/grid that will show me where the center of the frame is?

Here is another approach, maybe an unconventional one. Change the Anchor Point of the clip to be on the spot you want to center on. Then drag the clip in the Viewer. Align grids should appear when you are near the center.
To change the Anchor Point, open the Inspector. The last item in the Transform pane is Anchor.
Just click and drag on the X value and the Y value. Actually when you do this the clip will move on the frame to keep the Anchor Point centered.
Not built into the application. I think Ripple Training has overlay grids that can be loaded into the current version.
