2-column email on iPad 12.9" in portrait mode?

Is there really no way to see both the email list in one column and the individual email in the other column side-by-side on a 12.9" iPad in portrait mode?

There is plenty of space for this, but Apple appears to waste it.

Can i view the ipad email preview full screen? I don't like the split screen. I do not like the split screen in the email app. On the left is the list of emails, but one is always open on the right. I would like to see just the list of emails as full screen and then the email be full screen when I open it. Thanks

No, not possible.

In portrait mode, Mail App uses a slide-over view - whereas in Landscape you have a default two-column Sidebar view.
