Not if you have Find My enabled for the iPad..
Even if they reset it using iTunes to remove the passcode, they will run in to activation lock.
Sadly, chances are high someone will purchase it. The thief does not likely need another iPad. They will sell it.

Best thing to find our iPad is searching in CCTV footage. Found it!! Better not to rely on the gps of Apple maps !! Thanks 🙏🏻
