Macbook Pro a1260

What software do I need to update this Mac because I can't get anything to operate on it as far as the app store and so I'm assuming I need to download to update my software

A definitive answer depends on the macOS version installed on it now. If it is OS X version 10.11.6 that's the latest it can run.
