Music from iPhone to Mac

I recently bought a new Mac and in the process of changing over, I lost some music on the Mac - my own music from CDs that I don't have any more. It is on my phone but I am not game to sync the library on the Mac in case I lose the music on the phone. Can I plug in the phone and get the music from there without losing anything? Thanks, Sally
