Why can't I save my text conversations to my computer?

I have several different text conversations with my tenants that I would like to save to my computer (and to the cloud). It would be nice to be able to save these without a 3rd party software option.

iPhone messages can be saved on Mac Messages without an issue. --> Use Messages with your Mac - Apple Support
