my apple id wont change and I do not have that email account anymore

I can't edit my apple id (tried several times) and I will not have access to the email account any more. How do I change it?

Are you using the steps in the article below?

Apple ID Name Change.

What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support I suggest doing this before you change your Apple ID or password.
