Strange email

I keep getting an email wanting me to verify my Apple account information on my iPhone or my account will be cancelled. I can't confirm that it is from Apple actually so I keep deleting the email. When I accessed my account on my desktop computer my account doesn't say anything about this email. If this is a way for a hacker to access my information then others need to be aware of it too.
