Audio files playing at double speed

Hi people,

Since downloading Catalina, whenever I drag/drop audio files into a new project, it seems to play at double speed. I've restarted the laptop and the software and have also checked the sample rate which is fine. Anyone know how to overcome this?

I've tried the same project on my 2015 13 inch running Mojave and it is fine. I've tried rebooting and resetting the graphics card using cntl+option+P+R and it works for a second but reverts back. Anyone else having this problem?

Quicktime not recording any audio input on Catalina Hello world! I've just upgraded to Catalina from Mojave and from this very moment as I start New Screen Recording in QuickTime Player and choose ANY audio input (Microphone, Soundflower, Blackhole), the video is saved, but completely without audio. I'm sure the output is set right in the system audio settings, because I successfully record audio with my DAW software. Looks like no one else has such problem, so it looks like I need a clean Catalina re-install? That'll be terrible news.

imovie audio lost I often lose the audio content when I import mp4 clips into iMovie. When I play the clips beforehand in QuickTime there's sound but when I import to iMovie (even doing one-file-at-a-time) sometimes the audio has disappeared. So I end up with a new project of, say, six clips, of which two are silent. Annoying . . . Any ideas, please? I'm running Catalina 10.15.7 and iMovie 10.2.1. Thank you.

It looks like you're importing MP3. Right? This is a well known issue. One workaround is to convert the file to uncompressed WAVE or AIFF before importing.
