I recently purchased a 27 inch 2020 iMac. I want to connect the Thunderbolt port to a LaCie Porsche external drive that has only a USB-C port. Will this speed things up? What connectors do I need? Converter? One cable with Thunderbolt on one end, USB-C on the other? Thanks!

Thunderbolt 3 port on the Mac is dual purpose... USB-C & Thunderbolt 3. :)
This is too simple, connect a USB C cable from the Mac to the External Hard Disk and you are done!
