iPhone 8 Plus when using maps for directions it is lagging therefore does not update until it catches up making you miss your turn or the directions. It is really bad and I am trying to figure out how to have the navigation reset so it actually goes where I am when I’m using the Maps/gps for directions. (I reported the issue twice with Apple and have not heard back yet) does anyone know how this can be fixed or why it is happening?

It's definitely important to be able to rely on your Maps app for navigation. We understand you're not hearing directions as expected and there seems to be a delay.
Have you found this happens always, or does it happen intermittently?
Have you noticed what cellular service strength you have when the issue is occurring?
As a test, try tapping Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Maps, and toggle location services off for that app, and then back on. Does this help?
Let us know! Also, be sure to include your iOS version if you find that doesn't help.

1.) it is happening every time
2.)Cellular data should be good in all areas
3.) No, toggling the location setting on and off does not help.

I downloaded and used the maps and it is still doing it. It doesn’t keep up with where I am at unless I’m going slow. So if I’m on a highway it won’t keep up.
It happens without apple car play and with it. I tried both ways and even just through my watch and still doesn’t work.
I left two messages with them and have not received anything. I’ll try again.
